The photographer captured this
Blue Dart-Poison Frog for a brief
moment while he sits pensively
awaiting his next move.  We are
able to see  the striking
variations of blue and the darker
markings along his back and
head.  The Blue Dart-Poison
Frog is a very successful tropical
frog that can thrive in a
well-established area with no
fear of moving about during the
daylight hours because it is able
to ward off predators with the
poisonous toxins it secretes.
The toxins have also been used
by various human tribes for the
blowguns and darts that they use
for hunting and warfare.  The
Blue Dart-Poison Frog is among
the many intriguing creatures
found in the tropical rainforest
ecosystem -- a phenomenon
existing within the 50 degree
latitude band in which 50% of the
earths biodiversity can be found.
This photo is especially good for
decorating a child's room.  It is
attractive enough to cultivate a
lifetime curiosity about the
wondrous creatures of the world.
