Lauran Yates' Artist Biography

Architecturally inspired waterfront vistas instill the patrons
of Lauran Yates’ artwork with the small joys created by
her attention to every charming detail while freeing their
souls with an adventurous, inspiring view.

Lauran  spent her childhood summers in Ocean City, New
Jersey.  It was there that  she  developed her affection for
the unique features of waterfront architecture.  She
continually seeks artistic  inspiration through her
participation in house and garden events.

Lauran  currently lives in Alexandria, Virginia with her husband and three children.  Her art
studio looks out on the Potomac River.   In addition to her whimsical oil paintings, she
lovingly creates exquisite teddy bears for her friends.  Her attention to detail in all of her
creative activities results in artwork that stands out and successfully comforts her many
fans.

Lauran is a graduate of Smith College in Massachusetts.  Her artwork often reflects her
New England experiences or her favorite times spent hiking with her husband.  She stays
fresh among the Washington community of artists through continued course work at  the
Smithsonian.

The Porch - 18" x 20" signed, numbered, limited edition lithograph.  This
Adirondacks painting is Lauran Yates most often collected work.
The Porch was
an impression that Lauran Yates took home with her after a visit to the
Adirondacks.  It was like a return to the past. "Unconsciously, life moves in pairs..."

Spring Fever - 8" x 10" Photographic Print of Lauran Yates' original oil painting.
Nothing can brighten up the dull-drums of winter like this painting.  Pansies liven
up the landscape in some places year-round, and in others they often survive from
March to December.  Lauran is an avid gardener.  While waiting for the ground to
thaw in Virginia, she portrayed the pansies in oils.  Captured Ambiance likes the
springtime burst of color and geometric design so well that it was used as the
scene for our springtime art gallery.
